Funeral procession for chief could cause traffic Tuesday in Rogers, Bentonville

A reception and state of the city address for Rogers has been rescheduled to the death of James Allen, Rogers Police Chief.

Funeral services for Allen will be held at 1 p.m. Jan. 27 at First Baptist Church of Rogers, 3364 West Pleasant Grove Road. He will be buried in Bentonville Cemetery.

Police anticipate a lengthy funeral procession which will leave the church on Pleasant Grove, pass the Rogers Police Department, 1905 S. Dixieland Road and head north on Dixieland to Hudson Road. The procession will pass the Bentonville Police Department, 908 S.E. 14th St., before turning north on Walton Boulevard to the cemetery.

Traffic delays are possible during the procession to the cemetery, according to an email from Cap. Hayes Minor, interim chief of Rogers Police Department.

Events at city hall have been rescheduled because of Allen’s funeral. The Rogers-Lowell Chamber of Commerce reception scheduled to begin 5 p.m. and the Rogers State of the City address scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Tuesday have been rescheduled for the same times Feb. 10 at city hall.
