Restaurant's safe stolen from office

A burglar slipped by staffers of a downtown Little Rock restaurant and escaped with a safe Saturday night, police reported.

Officers patrolling the River Market District were flagged down about 9:21 p.m. by an employee of Gus's Fried Chicken at 300 President Clinton Avenue. Anthony Mitchell, the restaurant's assistant manager, told officers he had walked into his office and found several items out of place, according to a police report. A chair was turned over and a computer monitor was on the floor.

Mitchell, 43, then noticed a safe containing an undisclosed amount of money was missing.

Police searched inside and outside the business, but didn't find the safe. The report states that a back door of the restaurant had been left unlocked for employee use. Police took statements from two employees who had been working near the safe, but no suspects were identified.

An investigation is ongoing.

Man enters hotel room, takes purse

Little Rock police searched every floor of the Little Rock Marriott on Saturday night after a man went into an occupied room and stole a purse, according to a police report.

The thief got away with about $200 cash, credit cards, a checkbook and prescription sunglasses.

Karen Gissy of Manchester, Mo., told police her daughter had exited their room and left the door ajar. Minutes later, an unknown white man entered and said, "Here we go."

He grabbed her purse and ran out of the room toward a stairwell. Gissy, 59, told police she chased after the robber but couldn't keep up. Soon after, an employee found the purse in the vending area of the 10th floor, but all of the contents, except Gissy's keys, were missing.

Police responded about 10:25 p.m. and searched the hotel. The thief wasn't found.

License applicant accused of threats

A man was arrested Monday after threatening to blow up an undisclosed Department of Finance and Administration Office of Motor Vehicles location, Little Rock police reported.

Bryson Coleman, 32, was trying to get a new driver's license when he made the threat, police said. According to an arrest report, Bryson also told department staff members that he was going to "shoot it out with police."

Officers went to Coleman's home, 7700 N. Chicot Road, at 1 p.m. and he "became very disorderly," police said. According to the report, he was "yelling and drawing attention to himself."

Coleman was arrested and booked into Pulaski County jail on charges of terroristic threatening and disorderly conduct. His bail was set at $2,500.

He was not listed on the jail's roster late Monday.

Drugs, scale found in LR woman's car

A Little Rock woman was arrested Monday after police found crack cocaine in her vehicle while serving a warrant, police reported.

Police stopped Courtney Foster, 32, at 2623 Main St. in North Little Rock at 12:15 p.m. According to an arrest report, officers found a total of 17.5 grams of crack cocaine in the driver-side door.

Officers also found scales in the car's console, the report states.

Foster was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Her bail was set at $30,000.

She was not listed on the jail's roster late Monday.

Kids in car, driver arrested after crash

A Little Rock man who wrecked his Camaro on Monday was arrested for endangering the welfare of a minor, according to an arrest report.

Henderson Brown Jr., 59, was driving a red 2013 Camaro involved in a single-car accident at 8200 Geyer Springs Road. When officers arrived at 4:20 p.m., Brown admitted to drinking alcohol and smoking marijuana, police said.

The report states that two small children were in the Camaro at the time of the accident.

Brown was arrested on charges of reckless driving, driving with a suspended license and driving while intoxicated, as well as two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor. His bail was set at $3,400.

He was not listed on the jail's roster late Monday.
