Travel bans lifted in New Jersey, New York City

NEW YORK — Motorists can get back on the roads in New Jersey and New York City, and transit will restart soon.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said a snowstorm-related New York City area travel ban is lifted, except for Suffolk County on Long Island. He said drivers should still use extreme caution.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie lifted the ban on travel statewide at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. The restrictions were put in place on Monday night to aid plowing.

Service remains suspended on all New York and New Jersey commuter train and bus lines. But New York City buses, subways and trains are expected to restart sometime this morning.
