‘Downton Abbey’ is topic of UCA speech

English author Jessica Fellowes will speak Feb. 5 in Conway on her series of books about the hit period television series Downton Abbey, the University of Central Arkansas said.

Fellowes, the niece of Downton creator and scriptwriter Julian Fellowes, has written books including A Year in the Life of Downton Abbey, which offers a more detailed look at the characters in the drama, set in Edwardian England, and the actors who play them. Downton Abbey, now in its fifth season, airs on PBS at 8 p.m. Sundays.

“Jessica has written four books about Downton Abbey and will give our audience a direct insider’s look at the series,” Amanda Horton, director of public appearances at Reynolds Performance Hall, said in a statement. “She is sure to intrigue and educate ticket holders with her historical context and behind-the-scenes stories.”

Tickets for the appearance, which is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall and is sponsored by the Arkansas Times, are $15 for the general public, $5 for children and free for UCA students. Tickets may be purchased by calling the UCA Ticket Central Box Office between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at (501) 450-3265, by dialing (866) 810-0012 or by visiting www.uca.edu/reynolds.
