I-40 lane in Pope County to undergo midnight closure

Work on Interstate 40 in Pope County will require a short-term lane closure, state highway officials said Wednesday.

Crews will be repairing asphalt near Mill Creek bridge, west of Russellville, which will require shutting all westbound traffic between mile markers 75 and 78, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said in a statement.

The lane closure will run from midnight Wednesday until 1 a.m. Thursday, weather permitting, officials said. During that window, drivers will be detoured at Exit 78 onto U.S. 64 to access I-40 West at Knoxville, the department said.

Barrels, warning signs and detour signs will be used to alert drivers, officials added.
