Panel to explore Black History Month promotion in Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK — A panel discussion on the benefits and detriments of devoting a specific month to Black History Month is scheduled next week.

The Legacies and Lunch: Black History Month event is Feb. 4 in the CALS Ron Robinson Theatre in Little Rock. Black History Month begins Saturday.

Panelists include Henderson State University history professor John Graves, Arkansas State University history professor Cherisse Jones-Branch, community leader Freeman McKindra Sr. and Butler Center staff member Rhonda Stewart.

The panel will explore ideas of promoting Black History Month and building commitment to the history of African Americans, among other topics.
