Faulkner County Tea Party Meeting

CONWAY — The Faulkner County Tea Party will meet at 7 p.m. in the McGee Center, 3800 College Ave. Dan Greenberg of the Advance Arkansas Institute and The Arkansas Project will speak on tax relief in Arkansas and his Action Plan for Arkansas 2015. The public is invited, and a question-and-answer session will be held. Following the meeting, light refreshments will be served.

Library Art Exhibit

CONWAY — The Faulkner County Library’s public art exhibit And Then, I: Monuments to Pivotal Moments will be open for two more days, today and Friday. The exhibit features installations of ceramic and figurative sculptures by Barbara Satterfield of Conway. Tchaikovsky, Mozart Festival

MAUMELLE — The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra will hold its Masterworks Tchaikovsky and Mozart Festival at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Maumelle High School Performing Arts Center, 100 Victory Lane. The guest conductor will be Vladimir Verbitsky, and the featured violinist will be Randall Goosby. Saint Louis Brass Quintet Concert

RUSSELLVILLE — The Saint Louis Brass Quintet will perform at 7:30 p.m. in Witherspoon Auditorium, 407 W. Q St., at Arkansas Tech University. The free concert is open to the public. The quintet features Allan Dean on trumpet, Melvyn Jernigan on trombone, Jeff Nelson on horn, Daniel Perantoni on tuba and Ray Sasaki on trumpet. The quintet will offer free master classes, also open to the public, from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in Witherspoon Hall. AARP Smart Driver Course

RUSSELLVILLE — Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center will offer an AARP Smart Driver Course for people 55 and older from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Saint Mary’s Café 3, next to the cafeteria. The cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for nonmembers, payable to AARP the day of the class. Complimentary pastries and coffee will be provided. First Wednesday Ladies’ Lunch Break

CONWAY — The First Wednesday Ladies’ Lunch Break will be held from noon to 1 p.m. in the Second Baptist Church Fellowship Hall at Dave Ward Drive and Farris Road. Enter the church off Farris Road. Lunch, including a drink and dessert, will be available for $5. Women of all ages are invited to attend. Reading and Book Signing

CONWAY — Local author Krystal Murphy will read from and sign copies of her new book, They Call Her Jimmie Lee Cooper, at 10 a.m. at the Faulkner County Library. The book tells the story of the family matriarch, born in 1918 in Bradley County, and chronicles the struggles and triumphs of an Arkansas family. Murphy is an Arkansas native who has been writing stories since her teens. She has self-published four books. All library programs are free and open to the public. Friends of Thomas Team Meeting

CONWAY — Friends of Thomas Team members gather from 10 a.m. to noon the fourth Saturday of the month at the Faulkner County Library. Upcoming sessions, sponsored by the Central Arkansas Model Railroad Club, will include Feb. 28 and March 28. Admission is free, and all families are welcome to attend and discover the tools of the trade and favored brands of trains, as well as gather tips for a home layout or be part of a club layout crew. Children 5-12 years old may become Junior Engineers. A parent, grandparent or other adult must accompany each child and serve as his or her coach. Preregister for the sessions at admin@trains.buzz. The club also offers two Train Open House events for the public at the McGee Center per year.

CONWAY — Early Detection Matters, the first in a series of classes offered by the Alzheimer’s Association and the Faulkner County Library, will be held at 2 p.m. Feb. 5 at the library. The classes will address The 10 Signs of Alzheimer’s, Understanding and Responding to Dementia-Related Behaviors, The Basics of Memory Loss, and Conversations About Dementia. Screening of Seed Swap

CONWAY — The Faulkner County Library and the the Urban Farm Project will screen Seed Swap at 7 p.m. Feb. 5 at the library. The film documents Brian Campbell’s quest to re-establish community seed swaps in the Ozarks, while saving heirloom seed varieties traditionally grown in the region. Filmmaker Zachariah McCannon will be on hand to introduce the film and answer questions. The event is free and open to the public. Bethlehem House Valentine Gala, Auction

CONWAY — The 10th annual Valentine Gala and Auction for Bethlehem House, which provides shelter and other services for homeless individuals, will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 6 at oneChurch, 1073 Front St. Dinner will be catered by Stoby’s and Patticakes, and this year for the first time, Pasta Grill. There will be live and silent suctions and a new feature with Dayer Jewelers called the jewelry hunt. Faulkner County Seed Swap

CONWAY — The Faulkner County Library and the Urban Farm Project will host this year’s Faulkner County Seed Swap from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 7 at the library. Bring seeds to trade or small envelopes to donate to the seed library or to collect seeds. There will be live music and refreshments.
