City of LR grant to fund Murray Park improvements

The City of Little Rock will use $120,000 in grant funds to make improvements at Murray Park, the city announced Friday.

Little Rock Parks and Recreation received the grant from the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism to build restrooms, a bike repair station and a walkway near the base of Big Dam Bridge, City of Little Rock spokesman Luis Gonzalez said in an email.

The city, the Big Dam Bridge Foundation and Arvest Bank raised $120,000 to provide the additional funding needed for the project, Gonzalez said.

The new area will be named the Arvest Pit Stop, according to Gonzalez.

Construction to the new area should be complete by early fall, Gonzalez said.
