Newly elected Waldo Mayor Patricia Glover said she plans to advertise for a new police chief in various publications across the state after firing Police Chief Robert Philson earlier this month.
Glover declined to say why she fired Philson and said she didn't know exactly how many police officers were serving in her city. All work part time, she said Jan. 21.
"I am looking over paperwork now to try and determine who all we have on the list," Glover said. "But there are officers patrolling day and night protecting our community. We are a small community, and there are probably around five or six officers on our list of those we call to work for us."

Waldo, population 1,372, is northwest of Magnolia in Columbia County.
