Governor’s appointments

Correction: Steve Goode was appointed director of Arkansas Tobacco Control, replacing J.R. Thomas. This article incorrectly characterized it as a reappointment.

LITTLE ROCK -- Gov. Asa Hutchinson announced several appointments Friday, including three people as special associate justices to the Arkansas Supreme Court.

Hutchinson also announced Friday he will keep Steve Goode of Vilonia as director of the Arkansas Tobacco Control agency, which regulates and enforces laws regarding tobacco product manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers.

The appointments are:

• Sarah Capp, Ozark, special associate justice to the Arkansas Supreme Court.

• James Arnold II, Fort Smith, special associate justice to the Arkansas Supreme Court.

• Warren Dupwe, Jonesboro, special associate justice to the Arkansas Supreme Court.

• David Nelson, Magnolia, to the Southern Arkansas University board of trustees. The appointment expires Jan. 14, 2020. He replaces James Freeman.

• Jay Brain, Rogers, to the Arkansas Department of Aeronautics Commission. The appointment expires Nov. 9, 2019. He replaces Marion Burton.

• Chris Weiser, Magnolia, a reappointment to the Oil and Gas Commission. The appointment expires Feb. 20, 2021.

• James Freeman, Texarkana, to the Arkansas Economic Development Commission. The appointment expires Jan. 14, 2019. He replaces Stephen Edwards.

• Stan Green, Fayetteville, to Arkansas Development Finance Authority. The appointment expires Jan. 14, 2019. He replaces William Cone.
