BYHALIA, Miss. — Volvo has opened a new 1-million-square-foot central distribution center in Byhalia in northwest Mississippi.
The Swedish truck maker closed its regional parts depot in Memphis and consolidated in the larger building located in a sprawling industrial park in Marshall County, Miss.
The Commercial Appeal reported that the new center employs about 250 and is a $70 million investment by the company.
Christer Svärd, senior vice president of Volvo Group Logistics Services, said the center will house parts for Mack and Volvo Trucks, Volvo Construction Equipment and Volvo Penta, which was the was the first brand to move into the facility in November.
From Byhalia, Volvo Group will supply six regional parts depots in the United States, one in each Mexico and Canada and more than 2,000 dealers on the continent.
