Teenage superhero fans who also have an affinity for art and a soft spot for shoes can combine all three passions at Springdale Public Library.
Superhero Sharpie Shoes, which follows this summer's reading theme -- "Every Hero Has A Story" -- takes place at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

"It's basically coloring, but it's a lot of fun," says Sarah Loch, young adult librarian at Springdale Public Library. "And you end up with something you can wear afterward."
Various colors of Sharpies, white canvas shoes and stencils of superhero emblems will be provided.
"I like to do crafts where (the teens) can actually have something that will be of use to them or that they will enjoy having," Loch says.
Loch offered a Sharpie shoe program in February, which had a big turnout, she says. That program didn't have a theme.
"I just let them do their own thing," Lock says. "I really enjoy letting them have the materials, giving them some loose parameters and seeing where they go with it. They come up with things that are much more creative than I would ever think of."
Registration with shoe size is required for Superhero Sharpie Shoes. Those who can't register beforehand can participate if they bring their own white canvas shoes, Loch says.
Loch says she is always looking for program suggestions from patrons.
"We really want to find out what it is that they'd like us to provide for them so we can give it to them," she says.
