Area ladies to compete in Miss Arkansas Pageant.

Several young women with ties to the Tri-Lakes Edition coverage area will compete in the 78th Miss Arkansas Scholarship Pageant on Monday through Saturday at the Bank of the Ozarks Arena in Hot Springs. Contestants will arrive today.

Preliminary competitions will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, with the final competition and crowning set to begin at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Preliminary awards will be made Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in artistic expression

(talent), lifestyle and fitness (swimsuit), and presence and poise (evening gown) competitions.

Area contestants include the following:

• Haven Brock of Haskell, Miss Arkansas Tech University, is the 20-year-old daughter of Casson and Eric Brock.

She will present a vocal selection for her talent, and her platform is “Carson’s Kids.”

A senior early childhood education major at Arkansas Tech in Russellville, she will compete in interview on Monday, artistic expression on Wednesday, lifestyle and fitness on Thursday, and presence and poise and on-stage question on Friday.

• Sierra Lites of Grapevine, Miss Grand Prairie, is the 20-year-old daughter of Carlton and Marilee Lites.

She will present a piano selection for her talent, and her platform is “Building Leadership Through Extracurricular Activities.”

A sophomore nursing major at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, she will compete in interview on Tuesday, presence and poise and on-stage question on Wednesday, artistic expression on Thursday, and lifestyle and fitness on Friday.

• AuBrianna Burroughs of Hot Springs, Miss Greater Hot Springs, is the 24-year-old daughter of Jeff and Dee Burroughs.

She will present a vocal selection for her talent, and her platform is “Disability Doesn’t Mean Inability.”

A senior psychology major at National Park Community College in Hot Springs, she will compete in interview on Tuesday evening, lifestyle and fitness on Wednesday, presence and poise and on-stage question on Thursday, and artistic expression on Friday.

• Brooke Cornelius of Hope, Miss Henderson State University, is the 21-year-old daughter of Chad Cornelius and Roby Cornelius.

She will present a tap dance for her talent, and her platform is “Protect Our Youth: Bullying Is Not OK.”

A junior accounting major at HSU in Arkadelphia, she will compete in interview on Tuesday, presence and poise and on-stage question on Wednesday, artistic expression on Thursday, and lifestyle and fitness on Friday.

• Brooke Schmidt of Arkadelphia, Miss Ouachita Baptist University, is the 21-year-old daughter of Kelly and Doug Schmidt of Rowlett, Texas.

She will present a vocal selection for her talent, and her platform is “Just Say No: Building Drug-free Communities.”

A sophomore business marketing major at OBU in Arkadelphia, she will compete in interview on Monday, artistic expression on Wednesday, lifestyle and fitness on Thursday, and presence and poise and on-stage question on Friday.

• Brittney Humphrey of Bearden, Miss South Central Arkansas, is the 22-year-old daughter of Tammy Harper and Dewey Humphrey.

She will present a contemporary dance for her talent, and her platform is “Breaking the Silence: Preventing Sexual Abuse.”

She is a graduate of Henderson State University, where she studied human services. She will compete in interview on Monday, artistic expression on Wednesday, lifestyle and fitness on Thursday, and presence and poise and on-stage question on Friday.

• Stoni Butler of Camden, Miss Southeast Arkansas, is the 21-year-old daughter of Jeff and Sherri Steelman.

She will present a tap dance for her talent, and her platform is “Raise Your Hand: Reaching Higher With Higher Education.”

A junior psychology major at OBU, she will compete in interview on Tuesday evening, lifestyle and fitness on Wednesday, presence and poise and on-stage question on Thursday, and artistic expression on Friday.

• Samantha Hudon of Hot Springs, Miss White River, is the 23-year-old daughter of Jon and Chris Hudon.

She will present a vocal selection for her talent, and her platform is “Get Up! Get Moving.”

She is a graduate of the University of Central Arkansas in Conway with a degree in broadcast journalism. She will compete in interview on Tuesday evening, lifestyle and fitness on Wednesday, presence and poise and on-stage question on Thursday, and artistic expression on Friday.
