Half-Price Pool Passes

RUSSELLVILLE — Beginning Monday, season passes for the M.J. Hickey Pool will be sold at half price at the Hughes Center, 1000 E. Parkway. The full price is $75. The pool is open from 12:30-6:30 p.m. daily. Admission is $4 for adults 18 and older; $3 for children 7 to 17; and $2 for children 6 and younger. Maumelle Photo Club Meeting

MAUMELLE — The Maumelle Photo Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Maumelle Library. Discussion will include field trips and photo opportunities. Photos for the July theme, “water,” will be selected by the members, and future themes will be selected. Anyone who would like to join the club is invited to attend the meeting. Club rules will be discussed, and new members are encouraged to bring photos for the July theme.

Conway Christian School Worldview Camp

CONWAY — Conway Christian School will host its first Worldview Camp for Faulkner County students in seventh through 12th grades Tuesday through Thursday on the CCS campus. Richard Henley, the school’s president and CEO, said speakers for the camp will be from around the state and cover Creation vs Evolution, Race Issues From a Biblical Viewpoint, dinosaurs, fossils, apemen and other topics. Community Band Summer Session

RUSSELLVILLE — The West Central River Valley Community Band is accepting new and returning musicians for its 2015 summer session. Rehearsals will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Arkansas Center for Music Education, 502 Tyler Road. The program, Headin’ West, will include “The Cowboys,” “Shenandoah,” Copland’s “Hoe Down” from Rodeo, “Don’t Fence Me In,” “Go West,” “Kickin’ Up Country” and other Western tunes. The band will accept players of junior high level to advanced. Practice music is available for pickup at the center’s office. Chocolate Festival

DARDANELLE — The second annual Chocolate Festival, sponsored by the Dardanelle Area Chamber of Commerce, will be held from 5-8:30 p.m. at the Dardanelle Community Center, 2011 Arkansas 22. Admission is $5. Various businesses will be set up with different types of chocolates for festivalgoers. This year’s beneficiary for the fundraiser is the Bailey Craig family. Second Saturday Bingo

HEBER SPRINGS — Second Saturday Bingo will be held at St. Albert Catholic Church, 21 Park Road. Play will begin with Quickfire games at 5:30 p.m. and continue until someone wins $500. A concession stand will be available, along with homemade desserts.

Steel Magnolias Auditions

CONWAY — Auditions will be held at 2 p.m. for Steel Magnolias at the Conway Dinner Theater. The cast calls for six women, ages 19 to mid-60s, a colorful group in that true Southern style. Summer Concert Series

CONWAY — The Faulkner County Library will hold its fourth annual Summer Concert Series, with music from local musicians. The event is like Music in the Park, only held indoors to beat the heat. Cooling Station, Movies and More

CONWAY — The Faulkner County Library is an official cooling station. Anyone who needs a cool place to be during library hours is invited to come in and check out the library’s programs. In addition to regular library programming, classic, family-friendly films will be shown Tuesdays and Fridays. Children are welcome if they are accompanied by an adult. The movie schedule is as follows: 3 p.m. Tuesday; 3 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. July 17; 3 p.m. July 21; 3 p.m. July 24; 3 p.m. July 28; and 3 p.m. July 31. Adult Summer Reading Program

CONWAY — The Faulkner County Library offers Escape the Ordinary, the library’s first summer reading program for adult readers ages 16 and older. Participants will sign up and receive a punch card to keep track of books that they check out and read. Those reading e-books are asked to email a list of e-books read to fcl@fcl.org. Card punches are also given for other activities. Three prizes will be given during the summer, including an iPad Mini 3. Friends of the Library Book Shop

HEBER SPRINGS — The Friends of the Library Book Shop, 2255 Arkansas 25B N., is open from 3:30-7 p.m. Mondays, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays and Saturdays. The shop offers a large selection of books at bargain prices. All proceeds from the shop benefit the libraries in Cleburne County.

Cherokee Bingo

CONWAY — Cherokee Bingo begins at 6:15 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday at Helton’s Wrecker Service/U-Haul, 710 S. Harkrider St. All proceeds go to the Helton-Osburn-Spencer Scholarship Fund at the University of Central Arkansas.

Starlight Cinema

MORRILTON — The University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton will show Furious 7 at sundown (around 8:30 p.m.) July 14 on the lawn outside the Fine Arts Auditorium at UACCM. The film is part of the Starlight Cinema, a free community movie night. Guests need to bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. A free concession stand will open at 8:15 p.m. with popcorn and drinks, while supplies last. In case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to the Fine Arts Auditorium. Danny Santos Concert, Mandolin Workshop

CONWAY — The Faulkner County Library will present Danny Santos in concert at 7 p.m. July 17. A special mandolin workshop featuring Wes Green will precede the concert at 6 p.m. Singer/songwriter Danny Santos melds the inspiration of his Chicano heritage, a musical legacy ranging from Hank Williams to The Beatles, and the Texas singer/songwriter genre to create a unique mix of country/folk tinged with bluegrass and the blues. Small Business Start-up Summit

RUSSELLVILLE — The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center will present a Small Business Start-up Summit from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 21 at Arkansas Tech University. Three workshops — Starting a Business in Arkansas, How to Write a Business Plan and Business Financing Options — will help participants identify the major steps to starting and financing their endeavors. Life Choices Gala

CONWAY — Life Choices, a pregnancy resource center in downtown Conway, will host its annual fundraising gala, Celebrating 35 Years of Life, on Sept. 12 at the Conway Expo Center.
