Forecasters predict heavy rainfall for Oklahoma, Arkansas

TULSA, Okla. — Weather forecasters are predicting more heavy rainfall in rain-saturated areas of northeastern Oklahoma and northwestern Arkansas.

The National Weather Service in Tulsa says widespread thunderstorms that will likely produce heavy rainfall will arrive late Monday. The storms will continue Tuesday and Tuesday night along a frontal boundary that will pass over the region.

Forecasters say total rainfall amounts will be greater than an inch across most of eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas, with much of the area likely to see two inches or more. Local amounts in the four- to five-inch range will be possible, which could lead to flash flooding in the region.

A flood advisory remained in effect Sunday for the Arkansas River at Ozark Lock and Dam. The advisory affects areas of Franklin, Johnson and Logan Counties.
