Missing Tbilisi zoo tiger found dead 3 weeks after Georgia flooding

TBILISI, Georgia — Workers cleaning up after the flood that destroyed the zoo in Georgia's capital found the carcass of the last missing tiger on the grounds of a swimming complex.

Tbilisi zoo director Zuraba Gurielidze told journalists that the tiger found Sunday was the last of the animals missing after raging flood waters inundated their enclosures three weeks ago.

The flooding killed more than half of the zoo's 600 animals, including about 20 tigers, lions and jaguars. One of the tigers was on the loose for several days and fatally mauled a man before being shot by police.

The hunt for the last missing tiger continued until its remains were found at the Laguna Vere pool complex.
