Early, crazy polls

We saw a report the other day that Donald Trump had made it all the way to 10 percent in an early poll out of Iowa.

Ten percent.

Which may mean two things. First, that's probably his ceiling. It's not likely that the other 90 percent of Republican voters in Iowa--or anywhere else--consider him anything more than a self-promoting boor. Who, by the way, couldn't even make money on American football in the United States. (Suggested viewing: ESPN's documentary on the USFL back in the 1980s, and how The Donald, supposedly a genius at creating jobs, couldn't make it work.)

The other thing the Iowa poll tells us, unfortunately, is that a full 10 percent of Republican voters there apparently wouldn't mind all that much hearing these words: "Hillary Clinton, raise your right hand and repeat after me: I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of president of the United States . . . ."
