Frisco uses long ball to down Arkansas

Home runs by Patrik Cantwell and Ryan Cordell helped lift the Frisco RoughRiders to a 6-1 victory over the Arkansas Travelers on Sunday in front of an announced crowd of 6,081 at Dr Pepper Ballpark in Frisco, Texas.

Trailing 1-0 going into the bottom of the sixth, Drew Robinson walked before Cantwell took an 0-1 pitch from Albert Suarez over the left-field wall to put the RoughRiders up 2-1.

After Nick Williams flied out and Luis Marte grounded out, Cordell took a 1-1 delivery from Suarez over the left-field wall to make it 3-1.

The Travs led 1-0 in the top of the sixth when Blake Gailen singled through the hole at shortstop to score Brian Hernandez with two out.

The RoughRiders pushed their lead to 4-1 in the seventh inning, scoring with two outs. After Zach Cone struck out, Robinson walked and Cantwell singled to center to score Preston Beck who singled with one out.

In the eighth inning, the RoughRiders scored two more with two outs to set the final score when Beck tripled down the right-field line to score Marte, who singled to lead off the inning, and Trever Adams, who walked.

Cantwell led the RoughRiders by going 2 for 3 with 3 RBI. Cone went 2 for 4 with 2 RBI.

Cody Ege (2-2) picked up the victory in relief of starter Jose Leclerc by pitching 1 1/3 scoreless innings.

Suarez (7-7) took the loss, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits in 6 innings with 7 strikeouts and 1 walk.

Raywilly Gomez had three of the Travelers' four hits.

The Travelers went 1 for 6 with runners in scoring position and left 6 runners on base.

ROCKHOUNDS 3, NATURALS 2

The Midland RockHounds scored runs in the seventh and eighth innings to come from behind and beat the Northwest Arkansas Naturals in front of an announced crowd of 2,679 at Security Bank Ballpark in Midland, Texas.

Trailing 2-1 in the seventh, Chad Oberacker tripled down the right-field line with one out and scored on Colin Walsh's single to tie the game at 2-2.

In the eighth inning, Matt Olson singled to right-center field, moved to second on Jaycob Brugman's single and scored on Matt Angle's single for the go-ahead run.

The Naturals took a 2-1 lead in the fourth when Alex Liddi doubled down the right-field line to score Bubba Starling.
