Motorcyclist killed in Stone County collision

A Mississippi man was killed Sunday after the motorcycle he was riding hit another vehicle and then a road sign, authorities said.

It happened shortly after 1:10 p.m. on Arkansas 14 west of Sylamore in Stone County.

Arkansas State Police say 47-year-old Todd A. Billings of Horn Lake, Miss., was riding a 1989 Harley Davidson motorcycle east on the highway when he crossed into a westbound lane.

The motorcycle then hit a westbound Jeep Patriot before crashing into a road sign, police said.

Billings suffered fatal injuries. The driver of the Jeep wasn't hurt.

It wasn't clear what caused the wreck. Conditions at the time were said to be clear and dry.

The death was the 245th in a traffic crash in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
