Arkansas AG Rutledge engaged to be married

LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas Attorney General Leslie Rutledge's Independence Day weekend included another celebration — an engagement.

Rutledge's office on Tuesday said the Republican attorney general got engaged over the weekend to Boyce Johnson, a 55-year-old soybean farmer from Marion. Rutledge spokesman Judd Deere says Johnson proposed to Rutledge on Friday and the two haven't set a wedding date yet.

Deere says the two have been dating since 2013, when they met at the Arkansas Farm Bureau's convention. Neither Rutledge nor Johnson has been married before.

The 39-year-old Rutledge is a former attorney for the Republican National Committee and ex-Gov. Mike Huckabee. She was elected attorney general in 2014.
