Sisters donate $1.2 million to UA libraries

Three sisters made an estate gift worth more than $1.2 million to University of Arkansas at Fayetteville's library system, according to a news release.

The donation will be used to buy library materials, such as books, periodicals and digital resources, UA said.

Agnes Lytton Reagan, Mary Sue Reagan and Betty Lynn Reagan all attended the university. Agnes Lytton Reagan graduated from the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences in 1935. Mary Sue Reagan graduated in 1942, and Betty Lynn Reagan graduated in 1945.

All three sisters had careers in education. Mary Sue Reagan and Betty Lynn Reagan taught in the Rogers School District. Agnes Lytton Reagan worked as a librarian and a professor.

Betty Lynn Reagan died in 2005 at the age of 80. Mary Sue Reagan died at 93 in August 2013, followed by Agnes Lytton Reagan in December 2013 at the age of 99.

“They were beautiful ladies,” Alice "Russell" Eubanks, a neighbor of the sisters, said in the news release. “They had a sense of humor, enjoyed life, liked to laugh, supported their church and loved people. They always had a positive outlook on life.”
