Lake Hamilton wins 7-on-7 tournament

Lake Hamilton beat host Malvern 34-11 in the championship game Wednesday of the James King 7-on-7 Memorial Tournament in Malvern.

The Class 6A Wolves beat Camden Fairview, Hot Springs and Watson Chapel twice to reach the championship game.

It's the first 7-on-7 tournament title for Lake Hamilton this summer. The Wolves have also competed in the Arkansas 7-on-7 Classic and the Shootout of the South tournaments, both in Little Rock.

UALR freshman earns national honor

Caitlyn Eddy, an incoming freshman at UALR, was named a winter-spring High School All-American on Wednesday by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Eddy, a 5-7 midfielder from St. Charles, Mo., scored 18 goals and had 20 assists for Francis Howell Central, leading them to an 18-game winning streak and a runner-up finish in the Missouri state tournament.

She will be recognized and given her award in Orlando, Fla., on Aug. 1.
