New administrators in place in Springdale School District

SPRINGDALE -- Changes in leadership for Springdale School District were announced during a School Board work session and meeting Tuesday.

In central administration, Megan Witsonski has been named associate superintendent, replacing Clay Hendrix who has resigned because of health concerns, Superintendent Jim Rollins said. Witonski was the assistant superintendent for innovation, accountability and the integration of science, technology, engineering and math.

Melody Morgan and Joe Rollins are sharing the duties of the assistant superintendent of innovation.

Marcia Smith replaces Tamekia Brown as assistant superintendent for teaching and learning for the seventh through 12th grades. Brown has moved with her family to El Paso, Texas.

"That's two major vacancies in the leadership team," Superintendent Jim Rollins said. "Then you have the domino effect. We've been fortunate to have people in the system preparing for leadership."

Smith was an assistant principal at Springdale High School when she was hired to replace Don Hoover, who left to work for the Bentonville School District, as the George Junior High School principal. She was principal there for about a month before going to the central office, she said.

Smith is one of three assistant principals who left Springdale High School at the end of the school year. La Dena Eads left to be the principal of George Junior High School. John Wesson moved out of state.

"You know that by hiring good people, they're going to have opportunities to move up," Springdale High School Principal Pete Joenks said.

The new assistant principals are Lynn Faught, Remington Myers and Curtis Gladden.

The School of Innovation hired Mark Oesterle, Har-Ber High School assistant principal, as its first assistant principal.

Har-Ber filled a vacancy left by Oesterle and added a second assistant principal because of growing enrollment, said Jared Cleveland, deputy superintendent for personnel. The new assistant principals at Har-Ber are Margaret Robinson and Jacob Hayward.

Chris Venters is a new assistant principal for the Archer Learning Center.
