Big Rock Interchange closures set for next week

Work on the nearly-completed construction project at the Big Rock Interchange and improvements to the driving surface on Interstate 630 in Little Rock will require lane closures next week, Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department officials said on Friday.

Crews will be striping, installing signs and repairing pavement, which will reduce Interstate 430 northbound traffic to one lane, officials said.

I-430 southbound traffic will be reduced to two lanes south of the I-630 eastbound ramp and I-630 westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane.

The closures will occur between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. nightly Sunday through July 24. Crews will also be installing thermoplastic edge lines throughout the interchange between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through July 24.

Meanwhile, improvements to the driving surface on the I-630 railroad overpass between Woodrow and Battery streets, west of Arkansas Children’s Hospital, will reduce westbound traffic to the outside lane between 9 p.m. Sunday and 5 a.m. Monday.
