Roachell, Wall set for ASGA match play final

Hot Springs’ Kirsten Garner pushed Conway’s Summar Roachell to the brink, but given a second chance the top seed delivered.

Roachell watched as Garner lipped out a 3-foot par putt on No. 18 that would have ended the match. Roachell then won the 19th with a par to close out their semifinal at the Arkansas State Golf Association Women’s Match Play on Thursday at Hot Springs Country Club’s Park Course.

“I just kept thinking, ‘Man, you have another chance,’” Roachell said. “I fully expected her to make the putt, and when she didn’t I was kind of shocked. But then I had to rechannel and get ready for the next hole.”

Roachell will face second-seeded Heather Wall of Lake Village in this morning’s final. Wall knocked off defending champion Libby Croom of Russellville 5 and 4 in the other semifinal.
