Forecasters issue heat advisory

LITTLE ROCK — The National Weather Service in Little Rock has issued a heat advisory covering much of the state through the weekend. Forecasters issued the advisory Saturday for central, eastern and southern parts of Arkansas. It includes Little Rock, Hot Springs and Pine Bluff. Temperatures will reach 98 degrees today, and the weather service says the heat index will make it feel more like 107 to 109 degrees. The advisory expires this evening. The heat combined with humidity could cause illnesses, and residents are advised to drink plenty of fluids and stay out of the sun. Temperatures will be in the high 90s next week, with chances for showers and thunderstorms Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
