We like Mike

Ever since Mike Trout's first appearance at the Travs' little retro bandbox of a riverside stadium, he's had Ballplayer written all over him. And now Trout's Clout is accounting for new records in the majors.

He's the first player in 38 years to hit a home run to lead off an All-Star Game on his way to winning its Most Valuable Player Award two years in a row. So add another name to the many baseball all-stars with an Arkansas connection--from the brothers Dean (Dizzy and Daffy) to Lou Brock, not to mention Bill Dickey, he of Dickey-Stephens Field.

There are a lot of baseball towns in this country, but Arkansas remains a baseball state. The late great Bill Valentine, long-time manager of the Travs and an Arkansas legend himself, would be proud. We are.
