A parole absconder suspected in multiple recent holdups of individuals in Little Rock faces 13 counts of aggravated robbery and four counts of kidnapping.

Steven Turner, 33, turned himself in late Tuesday night after authorities circulated a surveillance image taken at an ATM of the suspect in the robberies.

A complete list of the cases in which Turner is suspected was not immediately available. But Little Rock Police Department Lt. Steve McClanahan said they include recent robberies on Main Street and a Friday robbery in which a victim was kidnapped from the 100 block of South University Avenue and forced to hand over his ATM card.

All the cases involved robberies of individuals, as opposed to business holdups, McClanahan said.

Little Rock police so far in July have investigated 53 robberies, already eclipsing the 50 reported in all of June, according to preliminary data from the Little Rock crime map.

"He's responsible for that spike," McClanahan said of Turner.

Online records show Turner, an England, Ark., resident, is an absconder who is scheduled to remain on parole through Dec. 19 in the Little Rock district.

Court records show he was convicted in 2014 of possession of a firearm by a certain person and in 2007 of false imprisonment and aggravated assault.

In addition to the kidnapping and aggravated-robbery charges, Turner also faces 13 counts of theft of property. He remained in the Pulaski County jail Wednesday morning with bail not yet set.
