The 14-year-old grandson of a slain Conway couple has been named a suspect in the Wednesday fatal shooting of his grandparents, police said Thursday.

About 1:16 p.m., the Maumelle Police Department asked Conway police to conduct a welfare check at 4803 Quail Run Circle, where officials found the bodies of Robert and Patricia Cogdell , both age 66, Conway Police Department spokesman LaTresha Woodruff said.

Robert Cogdell was the public works director for the city of Maumelle, and employees had called police after he hadn't shown up for work Wednesday, she said.

The teen was developed as a person of interest after the couple’s bodies were discovered, Woodruff said.

He was questioned “late into Wednesday night,” and is in jail pending two counts of capital murder, she said.

Both bodies were found beyond the tree line behind the home with fatal gunshot wounds, police said.

The investigation is ongoing, and more arrests could be forthcoming.
