Clarification came Thursday on the status of Arkansas power forward signee Ted Kapita.

On Wednesday, the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio, posted a message on Twitter indicating Kopita, 6-9, 235 pounds, of Huntington (W.Va.) Prep had committed to the academy to do college preparatory work.

A source with knowledge of the situation said Thursday that the NCAA Eligibility Center has not yet ruled on Kapita’s case. If Kapita is ruled academically eligible, he could still enroll at Arkansas for the fall semester.

If he is ruled ineligible by the NCAA, Huntington Prep Coach Arkell Bruce said there’s a possibility that Kapita could transfer from Spire after one semester.

ESPN ranked Kapita the No. 16 power forward and No. 71 prospect in the nation for the 2015 class.
