Paragould police probe man's death

PARAGOULD -- Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man found Thursday in a north Paragould home.

Officers responded to 729 N. Fifth St. after receiving a call from someone saying a man had been shot. Police found the man unresponsive with a single gunshot wound, said Lt. Scott Snyder, a spokesman for the Paragould Police Department.

Greene County Coroner Dick Pace pronounced the man dead.

On Friday, police didn't release the man's name, saying they are awaiting positive identification from the state Crime Laboratory, where his body was sent for an autopsy, Snyder said.

Investigators with the Paragould Police Department and Arkansas State Police have interviewed witnesses, Snyder said.

No arrest was made Friday evening, Snyder said.
