NOTEWORTHY Born Nov. 24, 1996. … Son of Scott and Mitzi MacFarlane. … Member of the National Honor Society and Beta Club. … Scored a 28 on the ACT. … Team captain during his senior season for football and his junior and senior seasons for soccer … A tornado relief volunteer with the Arkansas Dream Center in Mayflower.

This fall, MacFarlane heads to the University of Arkansas to major in business.

“I’ve always been good at math,” MacFarlane said. “My dad works as a banker, and I think I might want to do something in the business field. I just want to go to Fayetteville and figure out what I want to do.”

MacFarlane played running back, cornerback and kicked for the football team and played as a center back and defensive midfielder on the soccer team, which earned a state championship during MacFarlane’s sophomore year.

MacFarlane also did his share of volunteer work. He said his most rewarding was helping with tornado relief in Mayflower in the spring of 2014.

“It was several months after the tornado and you could still see where there was a lot of damage,” MacFarlane said. “I helped one family clean their driveway and rebuild a fence. It’s devastating to see what a storm can do and that people can lose so much in such a short time. It was rewarding to help someone get back to a normal life.”
