Sgt. David De Foor, the department's spokesman, said in a news release that officers went to the intersection of East Short 24th Avenue and South Indiana Street after reports of a shooting. A tan Mercury Grand Marquis was partially off the road, and inside police found a man with several gunshot wounds, the release said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

De Foor said police would not release the man's name until his family was notified, and he said investigators did not have information on the shooter.
