NOTEWORTHY Born June 23, 1997. … Daughter of Tommy and Dava Bauer. … Member of the National Beta Club, Key Club and Art Club. … Will attend Arkansas Tech on a Academic Distinction scholarship.

Bauer cooked up some impressive statistics for Booneville High School, playing right field on the softball team and as an outside hitter on the volleyball team. She was also an honor graduate.

“I loved playing softball and I can watch baseball all day long,” Bauer said. “But I wouldn’t say I enjoyed one sport over the other.”

Bauer earned all-conference honors in volleyball her senior season and finished the year with 125 kills. Her serving success rate was 93.5 percent, she collected 40 aces and made a career-best 19 kills in a five-game match at Waldron.

“None of our volleyball teams I had played on had ever beaten Waldron before, but for some reason on that day, they could not hit any of the balls I sent their way,” Bauer said.

Bauer was also an all-conference player for the softball team. She batted .282 and committed only one error all season.

“We were playing at Atkins and I let a ball get by me,” Bauer said. “I think three runs scored on the play. It may have been my only error, but it was a bad one. … I was never a great batter, but I improved enough my senior year that I batted second in the lineup for most of the season.”

Now that her playing days are over, Bauer is free to spend more time perfecting her cooking skills.

“I really love cooking,” Bauer said. “I hope to own my own restaurant some day, or at least run one.”
