Travelers use five runs in 7th to drop Drillers

The Arkansas Travelers scores five runs in the seventh inning to break open a 1-0 game and take a 6-0 victory over the Tulsa Drillers in front of an announced crowd of 5,926 at ONEOK Field in Tulsa.

With the Travelers holds a 1-0 lead after six innings, Tulsa reliever Jorge De Leon replaced starter Jharel Cotton. That's when the Travelers' offense came alive, scoring five runs on only four hits.

Cal Towey opened the inning with a single up the middle. After Anthony Bemboom and Ruben Sosa walked to load the bases, Sherman Johnson's sacrifice fly scored Towey.

Chad Hinshaw singled through past shortstop to score Bemboom. Jacob Rhame replaced De Leon and gave up a single to Bruce Gailen, scoring Sosa and Hinshaw. Gailen moved to third on Brian Hernandez's ground-rule double to right. Gailen then wrapped up Arkansas' scoring on a Wade Hinkle sacrifice fly, his second RBI of the game.

In the sixth, the Travelers scored their first run when Hinkle singled to left to score Hinshaw who had reached on an infield single, one of his three hits.

Nate Smith (8-4) allowed 4 hits in 7 innings with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks to get the victory. Jharel Cotton (4-2) took the loss, allowing 1 run on 5 hits in 6 innings.

CARDINALS 12, NATURALS 4

Springfield scored 11 times in the fifth and sixth innings, downing Northwest Arkansas in front of an announced crowd of 5,643 at Hammons Field in Springfield, Mo.

The big hit in the Cardinals' fifth inning was a bases-loaded single by Bruce Caldwell that scored Mike O'Neill, Patrick Wisdom and Anthony Garcia, who scored on a throwing error by Naturals center fielder Lane Adams.

In the sixth inning, the Cardinals took advantage of a two-run home run by Wisdom and a three-run shot by Williams to increase their lead.

Kyle Hald (3-4) pitched three scoreless innings in relief of starter Alex Reyes, who went four innings. Sam Selman 93-4) took the loss, allowing 5 runs -- 4 earned -- facing five batters in the fifth and not recording an out.
