1 killed, 7 injured in U.S. 70 accident

A De Queen man was killed and seven others injured Saturday when a vehicle hit a tree on U.S. 70 east of Hot Springs, according to a report from the Arkansas State Police.

Bernebe Figueroa, age unknown, was pronounced dead at the scene after a 2001 Ford Excursion in which he was a passenger crossed lanes, hit a tree and overturned multiple times, according to the report. The vehicle was traveling west on U.S. 70 about 7:45 a.m. when it crossed the eastbound lanes, left the roadway and struck the tree.

Four De Queen women in the vehicle were injured in the crash: Maria Figueroa, 55, Rosa Valazuez, Rosalinda Figueroa and Esperanza Trojillo, all with unlisted ages, according to the report. Three unnamed minors were also injured.

The weather was clear and the road was dry, according to the report.
