Deputies: Bodies of 2 found in home

The Baxter County sheriff's office is investigating the deaths of two Mountain Home residents and treating the case as a murder-suicide, according to a news release.

The two were identified as Terry C. Mills, 57, and Sandra Christine Douglas, 47. They were believed to have lived together in the home.

Sheriff's deputies first responded to the residence at 122 County Road 1428 off Arkansas 201 North near Pigeon Creek just before 1 a.m. Sunday to check the welfare of a man living there. According to the release, the man left the residence to speak with deputies.

At 3:06 a.m., deputies responded to the residence again after an out-of-state family member called, reporting he believed that the man's girlfriend was dead, according to the release.

When deputies arrived, they found the man with whom they'd spoken and a woman both dead with gunshot wounds, according to the release.

A neighbor reported hearing several gunshots about 9 p.m. Saturday. A firearm and spent casings, as well as the man's suicide note, were recovered from the scene, according to the release.
