Police ID man whose severed legs were found in Connecticut

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Connecticut authorities say severed legs found in New Haven this month were from a homeless man, and testing continues on two severed arms found nearby.

New Haven police said Monday that DNA testing showed that the legs found on July 15 were those of 54-year-old Ray Roberson. He was last seen on May 20 but wasn't reported missing.

The legs were found near a train station. The two arms, which did not have hands attached, were found in a plastic bag in the same area later the same day. Police say DNA tests on the arms are pending.

State court records show that Roberson had a criminal record that included a 2012 conviction for violating a protective order, a felony.
