Man charged in 2 heists, carjacking

Little Rock police arrested a man early Monday who admitted to stealing a vehicle and robbing two businesses at gunpoint, an arrest report states.

Officers responded about 7 a.m. Sunday to a gas station at 10320 Stagecoach Road. Maximino Perez-Magana, 48, said a man had approached him in the parking lot, held a gun to his chest and stolen his blue 1997 Ford Expedition, according to a police report.

Officers found the Expedition parked outside TownePlace Suites at 12 Crossings Court about 3 a.m. Monday. They arrested Christian Jamal Ellis at the hotel soon afterward.

The report says Ellis, 19, of Bryant, admitted to stealing the vehicle and using it in two armed holdups in North Little Rock.

The first was at Clothes Mentor at 2641 Lakewood Village Drive, where he took an undisclosed amount of money at gunpoint and fled about 3 p.m., police said. Ellis drove to a Dollar General store at 1701 Pike Ave. afterward and carried out a similar robbery, according to the report.

No injuries were reported.

Ellis said he robbed the businesses because he'd recently been kicked out of his home and needed money to find another place to stay, police reported.

Ellis was charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and theft of property. He was being held in the Pulaski County jail.

Teen shot in jaw near gas station

A teenage boy was shot in the face Sunday morning outside a Little Rock gas station, police reported.

Officers responded at 4:23 a.m. to UAMS Medical Center, where the 17-year-old victim, whom police did not identify, was being treated for a gunshot wound on his right jaw. He was in fair condition, police said.

The boy told officers he and three friends had been at the Coastal gas station at 4910 Asher Ave. when they heard gunfire, according to a police report. He said they ran to a vehicle and drove away.

The boy's friends provided similar accounts of the shooting, according to the report. It was unclear where shots came from, and no description of a shooter was available.

Police searched the area but did not find a crime scene.

An investigation is ongoing.

Two said to strike LR man, steal pills

Armed intruders sent a Little Rock man running from his home Saturday night, according to police.

Bobby Cates, 51, said two men knocked on his door at 8510 Scott Hamilton Drive at 10:43 p.m. and said they had a flat tire, according to a police report. The men kicked down the door before Cates could respond and struck him in the head with a blunt object. Cates ran next door for help.

The men took prescription painkillers from the home and ran away, the report states. Cates told officers he heard one gunshot as the men fled.

The men are both described as white, 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing about 145 pounds and between the ages of 20 and 28.

No arrests had been made Monday.

Shot after jests, 19-year-old says

Police were investigating a shooting that injured one person Friday in Little Rock.

Officers were called at 4:18 p.m. to 7609 Burnelle Drive off Chicot Road. Darius Glover, 19, said he'd been walking in the area with a friend when a man approached and asked if they wanted some PCP, according to a police report. Glover said he and his friend declined and made fun of the man before they walked away.

They heard gunshots soon afterward, according to the report. Glover was struck in the back of the left leg.

He was taken to UAMS Medical Center for treatment. His injuries were not life-threatening.

The shooter is described as black, 6 feet 7 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds.

No arrests had been made Monday.
