Woman fatally shot at NLR apartments; arrest made

A 26-year-old woman has been arrested in the killing of a woman found fatally shot Monday night at an apartment complex in North Little Rock, authorities said.

Police were called shortly before 10 p.m. to investigate reported gunshots at Shorter Gardens, 800 Beech St.

The North Little Rock Police Department said in a statement that arriving officers found Latosha Lewis, 25, on the ground outside one building with an apparent gunshot wound in her chest. She died at the scene.

North Little Rock Police Department Sgt. Brian Dedrick said a suspect identified as Shaquanna Staten was arrested Tuesday morning by U.S. Marshals. Dedrick said she would first be taken in for questioning before being booked into the Pulaski County jail.
