Teen arrested in Hope shooting death

4 p.m. update:

A 17-year-old has been arrested in a man's Wednesday morning shooting death in Hope.

About 3 p.m., Hope Police Department investigators arrested Travon Davis in Magnolia, Assistant Chief Kimberly Tomlin said.

Davis was charged with first-degree murder and was taken to the Hempstead County jail, where he will be held for a first appearance, Tomlin said.

Hope police are searching for a 17-year-old suspect Wednesday in a man’s early morning shooting death.

Officers responded to the 400 block of East Berry Street in Hope about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday and found Ivory Conway Jr., 24, in a vehicle and dead from “what appeared to be several gunshot wounds,” Hope Police Department Assistant Chief Kimberly Tomlin said in a statement.

Hope police are seeking Travon Davis, 17, of Hope on a first-degree murder warrant. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, dark shorts and white shoes, Hope police said. He should be considered armed and dangerous, authorities said.
