Hutchinson puts council under finance agency

LITTLE ROCK — Gov. Asa Hutchinson is putting the Developmental Disabilities Council under the state finance agency's supervision after a federal agency cited the panel as high risk due to poor performance.

Hutchinson on Thursday signed an executive order making the Department of Finance and Administration the council's host agency. Hutchinson says the move was made after a letter from the federal Administration on Intellectual and Development Disabilities and the Administration for Community Living Office of Grants Management cited several problems with the council, including its use of federal dollars and governance.

Hutchinson says in a statement he's asking Council Director Eric Munson to work with DFA to make the changes that are federally required. He says the problems predate the council's current leadership.
