Springdale Housing Authority plans office renovation

SPRINGDALE -- The city Housing Authority plans to renovate its office for added security and a larger board room.

Officials discussed renovation plans at the authority's board meeting Wednesday.

The office lobby will be smaller and a reception window, door and multiple walls will be made bullet resistant, said Randy Hoeschen, director of client services for Ledford Engineering and Planning. There will be a call button for someone on the other side of the glass to push to allow people through a door and into other parts of the building.

Officials also plan for the board room to be expanded to about three times its size, said Debbie Bailey, executive director of the authority. That room also will be used as a training room.

The preliminary cost estimate is $45,000 to $50,000, an amount that could change, Hoeschen said. Hoeschen plans for bidding on the project to open in early September and be finished before the end of the year.
