Water Well Trust plans projects in Arkansas and Oklahoma

LITTLE ROCK — The Water Well Trust is looking for low-income households from five counties in Northwest Arkansas and one county in Oklahoma to receive new water wells or rehabilitate existing wells.

In October, the federal government awarded a $140,000 grant to the Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit group to increase the availability of potable water to rural households in Franklin, Benton, Madison, Marion and Crawford counties in Arkansas and Sequoyah County in eastern Oklahoma.

To date, the Water Well Trust has completed projects in Crawford and Benton counties in Arkansas. Funds are still available for low-interest loans to households for a new or rehabilitated well. The trust limits fund to up to $11,000 per household.

The Water Well Trust is the only national organization that helps Americans get access to a clean, safe water supply.
