LITTLE ROCK — U.S. Sen. John Boozman said states like Arkansas need to be given more flexibility in how they administer child nutrition programs as the funding bill comes up for renewal this fall.

The Republican lawmaker from Arkansas on Friday told reporters he supports giving more flexibility through the Child Nutrition Act, which funds the National School Lunch and summer food programs along with many others. The current Child Nutrition Act expires in September, and Boozman sits on the Senate Agriculture Committee that will take up its reauthorization.

Boozman said he wanted to look at more flexibility from rules requiring children in some feeding programs to go to a particular center.

Boozman toured a feeding program at the Hillary Rodham Clinton Children's Library in Little Rock.
