Officer injured in fight with player released from hospital

JONESBORO — A Jonesboro police officer injured during the arrest of an Arkansas State basketball player has been released from a hospital.

Police spokesman Paul Holmes told The Jonesboro Sun on Saturday that Officer Tyler Wilson was released and will return to work Monday.

Police say Wilson was punched in the throat Thursday as officers tried to arrest 22-year-old Anthony Livingston at a medical facility where police were called because Livingston was combative. Livingston fled the building, but was arrested near the ASU football stadium after being shot with a stun gun.

It wasn't clear why Livingston was at the facility. He faces second-degree battery and other charges and is to undergo a mental exam.

ASU basketball coach John Brady issued a statement saying the behavior "is totally out of character."
