The spokesman for the Little Rock Zoo is now its assistant director.

The city of Little Rock said in a statement that Susan Altrui, who previously was the facility's director of marketing and development, has been promoted to the new role.

Altrui's duties will include developing a long-term funding plan, assisting in operations management and continuing as spokesman, the city said in a news release. Altrui will make $95,000 a year in the new position, up from $80,762 in her previous role.

Altrui, who was hired at the zoo in 2005, is also the executive director of the facility's nonprofit arm, the Arkansas Zoological Foundation, and has developed fundraisers including the Zoo Brew and Wild Wines events, the release said.

Outside the zoo, Altrui is chairman of the Little Rock Rotary Police and Fire Awards and chairman of the board of the Arkansas Motion Picture Institute.
