Police: Oklahoma mother mailed drugs to jail inside Bible

OKLAHOMA CITY — An Oklahoma mother has joined her adult son in county jail after authorities say she tried to mail him marijuana hidden in a Bible while he was incarcerated.

Sixty-two-year-old Ilona McChesney was being held at the Oklahoma County jail Tuesday morning in lieu of $100,000 bond. She was arrested Friday by the Oklahoma City Police Department and faces a drug distribution charge.

Authorities say the marijuana was hidden in the Bible's binding and was intercepted before reaching the inmate.

McChesney's other son, Jacob Baker, tells KOCO-TV that his incarcerated brother wanted to trade the drugs inside of the jail in order to get better food. He said his mother simply wanted to help her son.

Online court and jail records didn't list an attorney from McChesney.
