Mental exam ordered for woman accused of slashing corpse

TULSA — A woman accused of slashing the corpse of her boyfriend's ex-girlfriend will undergo a psychiatric evaluation and return to court next month.

The mental exam for Shaynna Sims was requested by her attorneys and was approved Wednesday by a Tulsa County judge. She's to return to court July 8.

Sims did not respond to questions from The Associated Press.

Sims was arrested at the dead woman's apartment after attending a viewing April 30. Police say Sims stole the woman's shoes and was carrying a knife with the woman's hair attached to it.

Police say the dead woman's face was slashed from her hairline to the tip of her nose, her makeup smeared and her hair on the floor. Additional mutilation of the body was found during preparations for cremation.
