District Judge Jim Hamilton ordered that Christopher Maines, 45, be held without bail in the Pulaski County jail.

An arrest report states that Maines admitted to killing Corey Morgan Derscheid, 24, at a residence at 2 Walter Place on Sunday. Officers responded about 2:08 p.m. to the home and found Derscheid shot dead. Maines, of 300 E. Idaho St. in Beebe, was arrested in Beebe hours later and transported back to North Little Rock.

Maines told investigators he'd been at Derscheid's home and that Derscheid had been "talking about him and his friend," the report states. Maines purportedly said he got a .25-caliber Raven handgun from his car, walked back inside and shot Derscheid once in the head.

Maines' wife, Peggy, drove him away from the killing, according to the report.

No additional charges had been filed in the case Tuesday.

The relationship between Maines and Derscheid was unclear.

Court records show no criminal history for Maines.

Derscheid, formerly of Jacksonville, had been on probation after pleading guilty to a felony drug-possession charge in June 2011, and authorities had been seeking him the past 13 months for violating the conditions of his probation.
